GREENWOOD VILLAGE, CO (January 9, 2024) – Floyd’s 99 Barbershop (Floyd’s), the full-service haircare franchise known for its expert services in an amplified environment, is proud to announce Karen O’Brien as the new President. Karen brings an extensive background in customer service and business management to the role, including her in-depth involvement with the Floyd’s company since the brand’s inception in 1999. Her previous roles within Floyd’s include Vice President of Administration, Corporate Entity Manager, and most recently Senior Director – Special Projects and Board Director. She has worked extensively in the banking industry as well as the recreation and service sectors. While founding brothers Paul, Bill and Rob O’Brien remain at the helm of Floyd’s brand, Karen will be responsible for ensuring all organizational processes are executed consistently across the company.
“I’m excited to take on this new role in honoring the founders’ vision and strategy, and executing the organizational system to fulfill their mission,” said Karen O’Brien. “Being with the brand for the last 24 years has given me a unique perspective in which I can truly see the value that each of the three founding brothers brings to the table, leading Floyd’s to develop into the successful business it is today.”
Prior to joining Floyd’s, Karen spent nine years working with Major League Baseball’s Colorado Rockies at Coors Field. There, she was responsible with everything from ticket and private suite sales to game day services, largely building her experience in customer and client services.
“Karen has played an integral role in helping Floyd’s succeed for the last 24 years,” said Rob O’Brien. “She developed systems and processes that we still use throughout the company today, laying a solid foundation for growth. She has a clear understanding of our collective vision for this company we’ve built and knows exactly what is needed to execute and bring our ideas to life.”
When Floyd’s first started franchising in 2005, Karen architected a plan to define Floyd’s operational system and client experience to ensure they had a sustainable business model they could scale. As the brand has organically grown its franchise system, they’ve had the opportunity to perfect that process. Now, with the recent addition of FranDevCo onboard to expand the franchise more aggressively, the brand is reliant on Karen’s leadership to guarantee they’re delivering the system that has made the brand so successful.
“The last few years have been challenging for our industry, to say the least. Fortunately, in 2023 the industry started to see an encouraging recovery. In 2024, I expect Floyd’s to experience even more system growth, both from existing shops as well as franchise expansion,” said Karen O’Brien. “As President of Floyd’s, I’m excited to help lead the brand through this next chapter and I’m not afraid to roll up my sleeves and put the work in behind the scenes to make sure everything performs consistently across the entirety of the brand.”
After opening the first shop just outside of Denver, Colorado in 2001, Floyd’s has since expanded to more than 135 shops across 15 states. Building off the belief that experience matters, and that expertise and convenience are vital, Floyd’s prides itself on offering services that cater to all clientele in an environment that’s welcoming to everyone. Floyd’s offers a full range of services including haircuts, shaving, color, waxing, deep conditioning treatments and styling as well as its own retail line of grooming products.
